Welcome to Chapter 3 - It’s a Page Turner
For those reading this who already know me, you know I LOVE a good plot twist!
By definition, a plot twist is a radical change in the direction or expected outcome in a work of fiction. In the simplest form, Chapter 3 is the plot twist of my (non-fictional) professional life. After stepping away from my most recent venture with LifeRaft, I took a beat for the first time in 7 years to reset, recharge, and relax over the summer.

It was in this time and space that I gained a lot of perspective on what exactly that next move should be.
Just as I was making a notable imprint in the sand from my days spent on the beach, the opportunities (rather than obligations) to work seemed to arise around every unsuspecting turn. People began reaching out to me independent of my 9-5 job for help, advice, problem-solving, or just as a sounding board for challenges they were facing. And for the first time in a long time, I had the time and bandwidth to noodle (see definition of noodle on the services page)!
Even though I tried, with mixed success, to resist the urge to take on too much or jump into a full-time role – I inevitably did find myself still very much ‘working’. This came in the form of meeting with incredibly interesting companies, reconnecting with wildly talented professionals, and having lots of conversations with friends, mentors, and professionals I admire. It is largely because of these wonderful folks that I realized my next step was painfully obvious… because I was already doing it.
The change in direction of moving from other people’s ventures to my own is literally and metaphorically my third chapter.
In typical “me” fashion, I made this realization well after I had already subconsciously made the decision to go out on my own – and after I was already building a great client base. So naturally, I figured it was probably pertinent to actually tell people about it!
Welcome to my new chapter. As with all chapters prior, I have no doubt this will be full of twists and turns and ups and downs; but this time the narration is in first person.
